As a lead-in to a final Darksiders game, or perhaps even as a finale to the series as a whole, Darksiders IV should address some of the franchise's lingering questions. Since the three numbered titles occur around the same time, very little of the series' actual plot has progressed since the first game.

However, a game based on the gunslinger Strife would likely be the most distinct of all. The first game's focused more on dungeons and puzzles, while the second is more open and focused on platforming. Like his siblings, he has a steed, the horse Mayhem, as well as the ability to transform into a powerful Anarchy Form after slaying enough enemies.Įach game in the Darksiders series has slightly different gameplay to match its playable Horseman. He primarily wields two handguns, Mercy and Redemption, and uses abilities such as shadow clones and caltrops to keep his distance from foes. While all of his siblings are known to fight with melee weapons, such as War's massive sword or Fury's whip, Strife stands out as being a trickster and long-range fighter. The first three were the protagonists of the first three games, and so it's only natural for Strife to star in Darksiders IV. Strife is a playable character in Darksiders: Genesis, alongside War, and so that game may hint at how Strife's own game would play. In the Darksiders universe the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are the siblings War, Death, Fury and Strife. Although another installment hasn't been officially announced, here's what Darksiders fans will likely be looking for in the next installment. The last game in the franchise was Darksiders: Genesis, a prequel released earlier this year staring War and his fourth sibling, Strife. Darksiders III continued the trend, showing what their sister Fury was up to during this period. Then, Darksiders II, rather than acting as a direct follow-up to War's adventure, had players follow War's brother Death on an adventure that took place roughly at the same time as the first game. The first game in the series put players in the massive boots of War, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, as he sought to save humanity from the end of days.
Updating to UE v4.19.2, may not be absolutely required, but it's still best to create mods with the same version of UE that the game uses. The Darksidersfranchise of action/adventure beat-'em-ups has taken an interesting approach to sequels.
The simple fact, the Mod author has created a pak mod using the same methods, as have been recently developed for Code Vein, makes me pretty confidant that the process is essentially the same.
With that caveat, this GitHub Wiki gives the basic processes for extracting the games pak files, and I can confirm that the Extract-Pak.bat Batch file works just fine using the UnrealPak.exe from UE v19.2, so no reason to use the older file, and introduce potential errors. \UE_4.19\Engine\Binaries\Win64\UnrealPak.exe The batch files can be used as it's the same file name. Specifically the UnrealPak.exe provided in unrealpak-bundle.zip, is from UE v4.18.3, and is different to the one in UE v19.2, so you may need to replace it with that file, which can be found here. So though they are very close, It is best practice, and highly recommended that you use the correct UE version, for Darksiders III. \Engine\Binaries\Win64\CrashReportClient.exe Note: The exact UE4 version used by any game, can most reliably be found by checking the version of the UE Crash Report Client, though often the Shipping Binary ( -Win64-Shipping.exe), also has the same version as the UE Engine that made it. If you've been following recent UE4 games, the answer is pretty obvious.Ĭode Vein uses UE v4.18.3, and Darksiders III uses UE v4.19.2. Mod Author's not responded to these questions, so I'll step in. You should post a guide on how you did it, get more people into modding this game. I was wondering though, how did you manage to mod the game? I tried a little while ago using Fluffy Manager 5000, but the mod creator said that newer Unreal Engine games like Darksiders III weren't supported.įluffy Manager 5000 wasn't used, so what it does, or does not support is irrelevant. Thanks for making this! A simple change, but a great one.
